Organza Fabric By The Yard Questions
DESPERATE NEED-on a time limit-Need advice on making a veil for a show going up tommorow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im a member of the costume crew for our school’s production of As You Like It-which is tommorow morning. We’ve been going crazy sewing, tacking, ect. and we weren’t finished with the work when it was time to leave. So each of us took home something to work on-and I got stuck with Rosalind’s veil. I could really use some ideas and advice-its limited fabric and i really can’t mess up.

So it goes around her face in the front down to her wrists. I need to sew trim around that part(it will be around her face). The rest of the fabric needs to hang down in the back slightly-and be able to drap over both her arms. We also need to get it to stay on her head-so I have a headband…any ideas on how to attached that? Its organza material-so I know i need to be careful of fraying. I’ve got about 3-4 yards of fabric. PLEASE HELP ME. I really could use the advice and this needs to be perfect by 7am
How tall is the girl wearing this veil? Have your Mom stand up if she is near the girl’s height, put the fabric on her head and straighten it down her arms. Use bobby pins to hold it in place on her head for now. You can buy some small hair combs, about 2″ or so (even at Walmart or drugstore) and sew them on but a hairband is okay too. When you are measuring it on your Mom, find the proper length and then cut it off. It could be in a triangle shape, or a half moon. After you cut it, measure around it to see how much trim you will need. If your Mom sews, she may have some trim around that would look okay. If the store does not have any, ask a neighbor or friend. You could bend the fabric over say 2″ on the edge and stencil or paint a design on it by hand. Use vivid colors so they show up. Use gold maybe. Even a paint pen could be used. Best of luck.
