Fabric Softener Unscented Questions

Is Downy Free & Sensitive Unscented Ultra Fabric Softener safe to use for babies?

I have my baby shower tomorrow so I am sure there will be a lot of baby clothes to wash. I already have Dreft laundry detergent for washing the baby clothes but I was wondering if I could also use unscented and free of dye fabric softener? (Like Downy Free & Sensitive Unscented Ultra Fabric Softener.)

I have a 1 and 3 year old that were sensitive when they were newborns. I hated the “stiffness” of their clothes though w/out fabric softener, baby clothes are supposed to be soft!
Once I tried the unscented downy liquid fabric softener it made all of the difference. (I used less than it said to) The fragrance itself has many chemicals. It worked for me, so well I eventually stopped using Dreft and used the Tide w/no dye or perfume, much cheaper, considering how much laundry we do with small children. Good luck and Congratulations!

Vaginitis no respecter, refers to Inflammation of Vagina

Most women have experienced vaginitis at some point in their lives, a condition characterized by inflammation of the vagina caused by infection, hormonal changes and allergic reactions. According to experts in women’s health is a problem that can occur at any age.

The environment of the vagina is protected by the flora, which is a group of organisms called lactobacilli, which are responsible for maintaining the proper level of acidity and prevent the growth of fungi, bacteria and viruses that cause various diseases. However, it is important to know that this body’s natural defense may suffer some alteration and lead to infections and inflammation when there is excessive or hygiene, the aggressive antibiotics and contraceptives, hormonal changes or having sex.

The discomfort that occurs most often because this is what is known as vaginitis, whose symptoms include swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, burning, foul-smelling secretions. Note that these manifestations vary from one woman to another, depending largely on the development or not of infection, type of invading microbe and severity of the condition.

Although generally vaginitis refers to inflammation of the vagina, gynecologists, taking into account the factors that trigger, they have partnered with six types of ailments, and then describe each of them.

Noninfectious vaginitis
It is caused by allergic reaction or irritation, discomfort that occur when one resorts to very frequent douching, use of deodorant, scented soaps and contact with underwear made of synthetic materials or products exposed to softening. This category also includes so-called “atrophic vaginitis” condition that occurs as a result of the decrease in hormones during menopause, surgical removal of the ovaries, radiation therapy or after delivery, because the lack of estrogen dries and thins the tissues smears.

The most common symptoms are:
    Itching.
    Burning.
    Flow.
Vaginal pain, especially during sexual intercourse (penetration).

To treat non-infectious vaginitis is generally recommended application of creams and administration of tablets, both estrogen, helping to restore lubrication and decrease soreness and irritation.

Fungal
Most times this type of infection is caused by one of the many species of fungi called Candida, which normally live in the vagina in moderation, however, when you change the level of acidity in this area begin to reproduce and lead to infection. This imbalance can be caused by the administration of potent antibiotics, pregnancy and diabetes, and includes the following:
Flow discharge thick, white and watery.
    Itching.
    Redness in vulva and vagina.

With the emergence of these problems is necessary to confirm the diagnosis by medical history and analysis of vaginal secretions, and later, the doctor will determine the course of treatment, which usually includes several types of antifungal agents (drugs that kill fungi), for example creams and vaginal suppositories and tablets that are administered orally.

Bacterial
It is considered the most common type of vaginitis affects women of reproductive age, and occurs when the normal vaginal bacteria grow out of control and cause inflammation, the cause of this abnormality is unknown, but infection is manifested by regular the following conditions:
Secretion of milky discharge or watery gray.
Bad vaginal odor (described as similar to the fish).

Because these symptoms can be similar to other infections in the vagina, it should undergo medical evaluation and laboratory tests to identify the organism aggressor and provide treatment with antibiotics.

Trichomonas vaginalis
These organisms, consisting of a single cell, infect the vagina during sex, which leads to a disease called trichomoniasis, which affects man to become carriers (most times) and women more aggressive, she usually develop symptoms of the condition, same as mentioned below:
Foam flow discharge, greenish-yellow and fetid.
Itching in and around the vagina and vulva.
    Burning during urination.
    Discomfort in the lower abdomen.
    Pain during intercourse.

Besides taking into account the above-mentioned symptoms, the doctor asks secretions analysis to confirm the diagnosis and then indicate specific oral antibiotics.

Chlamydia
Enters the body when you have sexual contact with infected persons resulting in infection, which is most often diagnosed in young women (between 18 and 35 years old) stated that this condition increases the risk of infertility and ectopic ( outside the uterine cavity or womb).

Unfortunately, many women have no symptoms, delaying treatment (which is based on antibiotics) and favors the spread of the disease, however, causes trouble when they include:
    Increased vaginal discharge.
    Bleeding, especially after intercourse.
    Pain in the lower abdomen.
    Burning during urination.
    Pus in the urine.
Redness and swelling of the urethra and labia.

Virus
These organisms often cause vaginitis are transmitted through sexual contact, among these are herpes simplex, which causes pain in the genital area associated with lesions and sores, conditions that are usually visible in the vulva, but occasionally are inside the vagina. Typically, stress or emotional situations may be predisposing factors for the eruption of the germ.

Better safe
Importantly, first and foremost, it should seek preventive measures, among which:
Avoid the use of synthetic underwear, preferably cotton clothing purchase.
    Moderate douching and using deodorant.
The toilet vulva should be made only with water and soap.
Never wear for prolonged periods of wet bathing suit, because moisture is a source of fungal reproduction.
Using a condom during sex, especially if there is no certainty that the couple is in perfect health.
Do not wash underwear, detergents, fabric softeners or apply or chlorine.
Use toilet paper white and unscented, so you can avoid this irritation.
Women who are in perimenopause may continue therapy with hormonal drugs if recommended by your gynecologist.

Note that every woman has vaginal secretions, which are white or transparent, odorless, do not cause discomfort and serve as a mechanism for cleaning and lubrication. So keep in mind that as soon see changes in the waste immediately go to the gynecologist to evaluate their status and indicate the most appropriate treatment.
